This site collects nothing about you.
Plain version: basaljohn.com is a set of static files. There is no account system, no form, no comment box, no chat widget, no advertising and no analytics. Nothing you do here is recorded by me.
Cookies
None. The site sets no cookies of any kind, and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. That is why you are not being shown a consent banner: there is no non-essential storage to consent to.
Analytics
There is currently no analytics on this site. The codebase can be configured to load a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics script, but that configuration is switched off in production. If it is ever switched on, this page will be updated first, and the tool chosen will not use cookies or collect personal data.
Server logs
The site is served from a virtual server in Germany that I rent and administer myself. The web server is deliberately not configured to log page requests, so ordinary browsing here leaves no access-log entry at all. It records only operational events, such as renewing an HTTPS certificate, plus warnings when a malformed or hostile request arrives. Those warnings can include the offending IP address and browser string. Nothing in that is used to build a profile, shared with anyone, or sold.
Third parties
Pages on this site load no third-party scripts, no third-party fonts and no third-party images. Typefaces are served from this domain. When you follow a link out to LinkedIn or GitHub, you are then on their site and their privacy terms apply, not mine.
Certificates
HTTPS certificates are obtained automatically from a public certificate authority, currently Let’s Encrypt for this hostname and ZeroSSL for the www redirect. Issued certificates appear in public Certificate Transparency logs, which is normal for the whole web and reveals only the hostnames, never anything about visitors.
